Wallace Johnson, 87, of Clairton, Pennsylvania, was born on September 11, 1932 in Sumter, South Carolina. He was the last surviving child of the late Ambrose and Ella (Singleton) Johnson. Wallace passed away on June 29, 2020 at AHN Jefferson Hospital. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Johnson; son, Wallace Johnson, Jr., stepson, Anthony Belland Sr., and his twelve siblings.
Wallace affectionately known as the “Bag Man.” worked for Tube City Iron and Metal as a crane operator for 52 years. He enjoyed going on trips with his wife and late sister and brother-in-law Arter and Sallie Belland Austin. He also enjoyed spending time with his dear friend Walter Sinkler. Wallace was family oriented; he enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren. One of his favorite pastimes, was playing cards with his grandson Jai’Veon.
Wallace was no stranger to the kitchen. He loved to grill and make barbecue sauce. One of his favorite meals was fish. To say he loved eating fish is an understatement.
He was always there for his family when needed. For this they are grateful and will always treasure his memory; son, Byron Johnson of Clairton, PA; daughters, Kimberly Johnson of Clairton, PA, Treva Johnson of North Ridge, CA, Sivi (Daniel) Hester of Clairton, PA; stepdaughters, Tamara Green of Pittsburgh, PA , Monique Green (caregiver) of Clairton, PA, godson, Larry “Slick” Sinkler; 23 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
