James N. McHolme, age 86, of Elizabeth, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015 at home. Born February 14, 1929 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late John and Sally (Stamper) McHolme. Jim began his professional career laying brick with Howell Brothers, Inc. In 1950, he started his own home building business, McHolme Construction Company. Putting his career on hold, Jim entered the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and returned in 1954 to build over 800 homes during the 1950’s. He eventually moved out of the home building business and focused his company’s efforts on commercial and industrial buildings. In addition to his work, Jim loved hunting and playing golf. His passion led him to more than 35 countries and, in particular, their mountain ranges. Jim was recognized for various sheep hunting awards and was the proud recipient of two North American Grand Slams and an elite member of the world Super Slam Club. Jim was a member of the Youghiogheny Country Club, a 50 year member of the Stephen Bayard Masonic Lodge #526 of Elizabeth, Royal Order of Jesters Pittsburgh Court No. 2 and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite 32nd degree mason. He is survived by his wife, Lynn (Rockwell) McHolme; daughter, Patricia Hawthorne of Midland, MI; sons, Dean McHolme of Elizabeth and Norman McHolme of Elizabeth Twp.; grandchildren, Collin, Casey, Angus, Caird and Molly McHolme, Kelly Stasa, Scott and Lauren Hawthorne; sisters, Bonnie McHolme of North Brunswick, NJ and Helen Meyers of Byron, MN; former wife, Donna McHolme of Elizabeth; also nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Stevens. Private viewing and services will take place at the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth.
