Jawanna Danette McDougald Warren, age 58, of Clairton, Pennsylvania, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loved ones.
Affectionately known as “Mooch,” Jawanna was born on May 17, 1967, to Wanda Sparks and the late Wayne E. Wade, Sr. She was preceded in death by her brother, Geoffrey Wade, grandparents, Mary and Harvey McDougald, Charles L. Wade (“Pop Pop”), Albert Belland; aunts, Rose “Sugie” McDougald Goree, Martha “Granny” Wade and uncles, Michael Wade, Albert “Petey” Belland, Rev. Charles B. Wade, and Mike Brown.
Jawanna was a proud graduate of Clairton High School, Class of 1986, where she was a member of the CHS Marching Band, and Color Guard. In the community, she was a member of the Dobettes Girls Softball Team. After graduation, Jawanna later attended the National Travel School in Uniontown, PA, becoming an Airline Travel Agent. Later returning to college, she earned a certificate from CCAC in Social Work and Early Childhood Education.
Jawanna was raised in Gethsemane Church of God in Christ and later became a faithful member of Mt. Olive First Baptist Church of Clairton, where she served with the Unity Choir and recommitted her life to Christ. Jawanna married her beloved husband, Kenneth Donnell Warren, on July 5, 2003. She loved her family deeply and cherished time spent with them.
She served her community for over 33 years as a Site Director at the AIU Clairton Family Center and was employed with the Auberle SNAP Program in McKeesport, PA. She was deeply involved in civic service, including serving as an elected member of the Clairton School Board, Recording Secretary of the Clairton Food Pantry, Treasurer of the Clairton Reunion Committee, and a member of the Clairton Hall of Fame Committee. She was also active with Sisters Saving Ourselves Now, the Pittsburgh–Western PA Black Women’s Roundtable, Neighborhood Resilience Project, Jefferson Regional Foundation and the Aging Friendly. Her dedication earned her numerous awards, including the Women of Black Excellence Award and the Pruitt-Kelly Age-Friendly Leadership Award (2025).
Jawanna leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Kenneth Donnell Warren; children, Tana Spence and David Spence; grandchildren David McKeithen-Spence, Tana’ Spence, Rhaniya Spence, Deajah Spence, Daveon Spence, Diamond Spence, Prince Spence, and Deyton Spence; mother, Wanda (Wilbur) Sparks; grandmother, Martha Wade all of Clairton, PA; godsons, Jeffrey Carter, Jr. of Clairton, PA, Darrell Thompson of Atlanta, GA; siblings, Brandi Wade and Brian “Herbie” Wade both of Clairton, PA, Terrence Wade of Carrick, PA, Wayne (Yolanda) Wade of McKeesport, PA; aunts and uncles, Patricia (Ralph) Hamlin of Lugoff, SC, Angie (Earnest) Sanford of York, PA, Harvey (Carla) McDougald, Charlene Wade, Tracy Wade, Carlton (Joy) Wade, Sharon Wade, Martina Jamison, Vincent Brown, Wilbert (Beverly) Brown, all of Clairton, PA, Derrick McDougald of Michigan, James (Sherry) Belland of Maryland, Tawanna Brown of White Oak, PA and Lisa Brightmon of Port St. Lucie, FL.
Jawanna also leaves to mourn her Sisters-in-Love, “The Crew” (Danette Thompson, Joy Wade, Anitra Pinky Meade, Yolanda Wade, Kim Schley, Willa Spence, Nikki George), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, so many friends, and coworkers. Jawanna lived life to the fullest and will forever remain in our hearts! A Special thank you to her “Nurse” Rava Wright for the loving care and compassion you showed and gave.
