Gregory Winfred Luckey was born on January 18, 1947, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Hilary Luckey and Lillian Baldwin Luckey. Gregory passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy defined by devotion to family, service to his country, and a lifetime of hard work and quiet strength. His steady presence enriched the lives of everyone who knew him, and his memory will continue to guide those he loved.
Gregory received his education in the Clairton School District and proudly graduated from Clairton High School in 1965, building the foundation for a life marked by discipline, dedication, and service. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving for 3 years as a jet engine mechanic. He carried out his duties with skill, precision, and deep commitment to his country.
After completing his military service, Gregory continued a life of devoted service to United States Steel Duquesne Works. He spent 10 years at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, followed by time at Presbyterian Hospital, and later was employed by the Allegheny County Housing Authority. In every role, Gregory was known for his reliability, craftsmanship, and willingness to help others.
Gregory is reunited in passing with his beloved wife, Carolyn Luckey, whose memory remained close to his heart. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Joan Luckey, and his nephew Seton Jones, each remembered with deep affection.
Gregory is survived by his brother, Hilary (Dora) Luckey, Jr., who resides in 29 Palms, California. He is also mourned by his brother?in?law, Curtiss Jones of Plum, Pennsylvania, a trusted friend and family member. Gregory leaves behind three nephews William Barnett, Parrish Page, and Tobias Jones, each held a special place in his life. He is also lovingly remembered by two nieces, Amber Luckey, who cherished her uncle deeply and Rachel Carter. Gregory is further mourned by a host of relatives, church family, and dear friends, all of whom will forever treasure his life, laughter, love, and the legacy he leaves behind.
A celebration of Gregory’s life will be held to reflect on the impact he made. Family and friends will gather to share stories and honor his life. The family encourages acts of kindness in Gregory’s memory by helping a neighbor, supporting a friend, or offering compassion to someone who needs it.
