Sam Mincone, age 90 of Jefferson Hills and formerly of Clairton, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2026 In Paramount Senior Living, Bethel Park. Born May 29, 1936 in Queens, NY, he was a son of the late Salvatore and Luchia Mincone and brother of the late Susie Bandini and Angelo Mincone. Sam was a 1955 graduate of Clairton High School, where he was a member of the 1954 WPIAL Champion Bears, and a 1959 graduate of Wittenburg College. He played on the 1958 undefeated Wittenburg team and was a member of the school's 1957 and 1958 Ohio Conference champions. Sam was also a coach for three years in Sydney, OH before returning home to coach and teach for his alma mater Clairton for many years. In his spare time, Sam led an active social life and enjoyed dancing and long drives with his long time companion Sandy Shiring. Sam is survived by an extensive network of cousins, the many friends he made, the students he taught, and the players he coached throughout his career. Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, Clairton, on Friday, October 30, 2026 from 10 AM until a Blessing in the funeral home at 12 Noon. Procession and burial will follow to Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
