Elizabeth J. “Betty” Smith, age 97, of Zelienople, formerly of Elizabeth, PA, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026 while under the care of Passavant Retirement Community.
Born October 26, 1928 in Glassport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Isobel (Dunst) Burton.
Betty volunteered for over 20 years in McKeesport to assist special needs children. She also graciously volunteered at Passavant Retirement Community. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was also an excellent baker. Above all, she was a caring and kind person who cherished the time she spent with her family. Betty will be dearly missed.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Paul C. (Mary) Smith, and Daniel B. (Patricia) Smith, Sr.; her daughter, Barbara (William) Miller; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Smith, who passed away in 1988; and two brothers, William and Robert Burton.
Friends will be received 10 A.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Seaman Memorial Chapel at Passavant Retirement Community, 105 Burgess Dr., Zelienople, PA 16063.
She will be laid to rest at Round Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.
