ObituarySam Elson, a resident of Forest Hills died Tuesday, April 25, at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, aged 65. Sam was the loving brother of Nancy Elson Fromer of Cornwall, UK, and much loved uncle to Jenny Fromer of London, UK and Megan Fromer of Stamford, NY. He is preceded by his parents, Howard and Virginia Elson of Clairton, PA and their infant daughter Judy. Sam and best friend, Dave Baker, worked alongside one another for decades. Among other jobs, Sam was a Customer Service Manager for Laurel Mountain Whirlpools in Turtle Creek and a Plant Manager for LASCO in Elizabethtown. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Duquesne University in 1973. While an undergraduate he played men’s varsity tennis and won the Pittsburgh city championship with his team. Sam was exceedingly devoted to his furry feline companions, Ashley and Rusty. He was also a life-long fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his many unique and colorful greeting cards. As an avid supporter of public broadcasting, donations may be made in his name to WQED. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A commital service will take place at Noon on Saturday, April 29 in the chapel at Roundhill Cemetery in Elizabeth, PA. Arrangements by Patrick T.
